Learn successful painting techniques, materials, their application, composition, color theory and the effects of light for all levels. 

Class will include demonstrations & critiques.

Course Objectives:

To understand and develop skills of constructing a painting technically and aesthetically.

To develop visual perception using basic concepts of space, color, surface, form and content.

To understand the physical properties of the painting medium.

To develop a sense of visual composition.

To develop an ability to verbalize ideas and judgments of the work.

Materials List

These are suggested materials. You may work with more or less and make substitutions.

I Recommend Golden Brand Acrylic Paints (or equivalent color in parentheses) 

         Diarylide Yellow OR (Cadmium Yellow Deep)

         Cadmium Yellow Medium and CadmiumYellow Light

         Jenkins Green OR (Sap Green)

         Dioxazine Purple

         Quinacridone Crimson & Quinacridone Magenta OR (Alizarin Crimson & Magenta)

         Pyrole Red & Cadmium Red Light

         Anthraquinone Blue &/ OR Ultramarine Blue

         Nickel Azo Yellow

         Yellow Ochre

         Titanium White* large tube

         Cerulean Blue

         Brushes: (flats, angled, or brights small, medium, large)

         Palette paper pad, and I recommend a Masterson or Handi Palette  for acrylics, worth every penny

         cup for cleaning brushes

         Paper towels (Bounty does not leave lint)

         men’s shirt or smock

         Stretched canvas 8” X10” and up
