Learn successful painting techniques, materials, their application, composition, color theory and the effects of light for all levels. Class will include demonstrations and critiques.
Course Objectives:
1. To understand and develop skills of constructing a painting technically and aesthetically.
2. To develop visual perception using basic concepts of space, color, surface, form and content.
3. To understand the physical properties of the painting medium.
4. To develop a sense of visual composition.
5. To develop an ability to verbalize ideas and judgments of the work.
Evaluation Procedure: Group critique for each painting assignment.
Each painting will be evaluated individually.

- Brushes: (round just small, flats, angled, or brights small, medium, large)
- mineral spirits (Gamsol is the best) *for oil only
- Palette Paper disposable
- Masterson sta-wet palette will save your paint, worth every penny handi palette is small but you can mix on palette paper
- Container or tin can for cleaning brushes
- Paper towels
- men’s shirt or smock
- Stretched canvas 8” X10” and up
